NASCAR racing legend - Bobby Isaac

The story of Bobby Isaac is a classic rags to riches tale. He grew up on a farm near Catawba, North Carolina, and was the second youngest of nine children. From the time Isaac was 6 years old, his parents had died and he was pretty much on your own. He left the school after the sixth grade, which led to a rumor that he could not read or write, which is not true. At the age of 12, he worked in a sawmill. He saved his money until he could buy his first pair of shoes.

17, Isaac discovered his love for racing. He lived sister and her husband with his when he saw his first race on the new track in Hickory, NC. He wasted no time and bought a Furt 37. He headed straight for the track, but crashed in the second round of the race. He was fearless, back on track in no time. 1956 Began full time racing he but not race the Grand National circuit until seven years later.

1958 Bobby connected with Ralph Earnhardt. During the season, he raced against some of the best in the game such as Ned Jarrett, David Pearson, and Ralph Earnhardt himself. "I have some of the driver, but not good enough for them to know me a car", he commented later. In 1964 Bobby Isaac took the victory of petty and Pardue in Daytona. This season had 19 starts and 7 top-10.

1969 Was able to take Bobby in a season 20-PIN. This is a NASCAR record that is hard to beat. (There are currently 36 races on the schedule.) 1970 Bobby's career was heating, which he had secured the Cup Championship, and through the second to the last race of the season. In 1970, he set a world record on a closed course; He circled the track at 201.104 mph, which beat buddy Baker record of 200.447 mph. In 1976, Bobby Isaac drove his last Winston Cup race for banjo Matthews.

Bobby pulled his car off the track in 1977 during a late model sportsman race at Hickory suddenly. He suffered a heart attack and died at a local hospital. Bobby Isaac also made at the Bonneville Salt flats in Utah and set 28 speed records, of which many still exist.
