Like so many other great racing driver, Virgil earnest Irvan started better known as Ernie Irvin, driving karts when he was only a child. He won the California at the age of 15 years. From the time he was 16 had he moved already up, Stock-Cars and his first win on asphalt Stockton 99 Speedway in California. It was only the beginning for Irvin; He made a point Madera and Stockton it to race every weekend and was no stranger to victory. He's missing even his own high school graduation, Riverside drive.
1982 Irvin headed for the heart of racing country-North Carolina. He left California with only $700 in his pocket, but made a pit stop in Vegas and ended up with $200 more. Irvin began to develop of a very aggressive driving style and earned the nickname "Dodge Irvan" of his other riders. Some of his controversial moves led to a televised apology on a drivers meeting before the race. Irvin had driven for Morgan McClure Motorsports, when his friend Davey Allison came in a helicopter crash killed in 1993. To his friend honor, he wanted to take the Davey car at Robert Yates Racing but MMM wanted to free him, and soon became an evil action follow. He has released at the end of Texaco/Havoline Ford after of MMM taking over the # 28 and went to the winner's circle in only his 4th start with RYR. He dedicated the victory of Davey Allison.
1994 Ernie Irvin suffered a near fatal accident when a tyre deflated and sent him into the wall with more than 170 km/h. He suffered critical brain and lung injuries, to leave him with only a 10% chance of survival. With medical intervention and therapy he recovered and was able to walk on stage and get the true value hard charger price only 2 months after the accident. Irvin's theme was a full recovery and his strength again and after months of rehabilitation and strength training, NASCAR disabled him to return to the circuit.
Exactly five years after his near fatal accident Irvin again went into the wall a paradigm and air, which was removed to the hospital with brain and lung injuries. Less than two weeks after the crash, his wife and two children at his side, he announced his retirement in tears. Irvin 2007 involved in racing as crew chief for his son Jared quarter midget team. Today, he is Race2safety, a Foundation promotes, that he advocates awareness and the prevention of head injuries, especially in children.
