NASCAR will win driver Jimmie Johnson here

Jimmie Johnson is here to win, and he proved it for the second week in a row with a victory today at Richmond International Raceway. A win is always important, but for Johnson, this victory perhaps other drivers to keep in mind that it is ready for the Chase. Johnson is out for his third consecutive Cup win is. The last person to do so was Cale Yarborough, 1976-1978.

Johnson was clearly determined in a Chevrolet, today to win and he proved it Tony Stewart and his Toyota by holding off hard-charging at the end. With no Stewart wins this season, two time series champion is clearly frustrated. Although Stewart is winless, he has qualified for the chase and now does need WINS to secure a third Championship in the last ten races.

Behind Stewart, Denny Hamlin was in a Toyota to third place. Fourth place went to Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in a Chevrolet fifth place went to Mark Martin in a Chevrolet.

World Championship leader Kyle Busch had a busy day and could finish only 15. Bush had two separate race incidents, one with Earnhardt Jr. and a second with Elliot Sadler. Busch is hunting in the first place thanks to his impressive eight races this season started.

Carl Edwards starts the hunt for second place behind Bush. Although Edwards has had six wins this year, he is just bonus points for five wins due to a post race earlier in the season. Today only 13 finish could Edwards.

The Chase for the Sprint Cup begins in earnest next week in New Hampshire.
