Terrance Lee Labonte is a two-time NASCAR Winston Cup winner and the younger brother of Bobby Labonte. He is the father of Justin, which drove in the Busch series. Like many of his competitors, Terry Labonte started his career in racing at an early age. He spent time with his father, who worked on the car and in the age of 7 he began racing quarter and dwarfs.
The amount of time he was 9 years old, he had already won a Championship. When he was a teenager, moved to the local short tracks and it won championships. Local short track racing until the age of 22 as a NASCAR team owner Billy Hagan took notice and he went on a chance to the big time offered, to him.
Darlington of the Southern 500 was his first jump on the NASCAR circuit-not the easiest route for a rookie still trying to get his feet wet. "I have never Darlington had seen before I went there in 1978," said Terry. Apparently, he was ready, "too tough to tame" track. He took his Hagan Chevrolet fourth place. (The Lady in black later was specially designed for Terry, always the route of his first start and first victory final victory.)
Drive through his third season, Terry was a strong contender for the Cup Championship. He finished fourth in the ranking in 1981, 1982, third and fifth 1983. From August 1984 Terry had his first Grand National Championship wrapped, to lead by passing Dale Earnhardt, in the overall classification. He began to be known by nicknames such as "Texas" Terry and Iceman.
1996 In Martinsville, Terry was hit "Ironman" of sports as Richard Petty's record of 513 consecutive starts. From this season, he led his second championship won. After almost three decades, adopted Terry, out of racing withdraw. In 2006 he drove part-time, then hung his suit and shoes. In early 2007 but the racing scene lured him back and he ran three races for Michael Waltrip. He is also set to petty enterprises this year ('08) as drivers join number words. He will be a teammate of his brother Bobby only for the second time in their NASCAR career.
