It's time for a Triple Crown and Grand Slam of NASCAR

Thoroughbred horse racing has its famous Triple Crown (Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont Stakes). Professional tennis has its Grand Slam (Australia, French open, Wimbledon, U.S. open), four tournaments, which have won only five of the men and women in a given calendar year. PGA golf (masters, U.S. open, British open, PGA Championship) has four tournaments, that no one has captured in a single season.

Some prestigious races or tournaments which are available through the rest of traditionally recognised sports, where every participant for every event collecting. Added to NASCAR, its timing in the years after hacking 1972 it began on a race a week as a "Modern times". But what is different from a date with 36 events for 10 months in the Sprint Cup series from the rest?

Currently only the season-opening is recognized for special meaning, Daytona 500, the "Super Bowl of stock car racing," Although certain tracks have some degree of reputation. "The brickyard" in Indianapolis, due to his position as the home of the open wheel Indy 500, is one such site. The "track, which is too hard to tame" in Darlington, along with the Fame award at Talladega Super Speedway, 10-month race of the season put added importance.

If NASCAR wanted its own version of "Triple Crown", the first picking is a no-brainer. The Daytona 500, also known as "the great American race," which is monitored and estimated motor racing event on the continent. In addition, there are some races that most fans can identify by name. Pocono 500 comes to mind, because it is about the only other event to keep its original name over the years, while other race names in the constant change due to corporate sponsorship. Still, the Pocono race started only in ' 82, not on the sports golden era, and finds instead two weeks after the more famous Coca-Cola 600.

The argument that a Talladega race is to include valid, but the Aaron's 499-no attention and with no real tradition fits not. And the April race date too soon and too late October.

In the Coca-Cola 600, called the world 600 to ' 85, runs on Memorial Day weekend and is competing with Indy 500. All in the afternoon drive started the Indy Racing League grand event in ' 02 outdraw. The longest race had kept its original name, which would be world's longest regular guided race of its kind, the world 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway (formerly Charlotte Motor Speedway), instead of in the vicinity of unofficial of the summer, were easily the second leg a Triple Crown.

The perfect date for the last stage was the labor day weekend race, especially if this always nor the date of the Southern 500. But NASCAR killed the event-after rename it Mountain Dew Southern 500 in 2005. With the 10-race Chase from two weeks later, late August / early September date ideally.

Have been a Triple Crown is more preferable to a "Grand Slam", weekend, once called the firecracker 400, and then changed to Coke Zero 400 powered by Coca-Cola, would work, but that's the fourth of July would race Coco-Cola two large plugs-although the "official soft drink of NASCAR" Coke is and to also Daytona give two dates in the Crown/slam. And Daytona was then defeated by officials at the Talladega would balk. A circuit has been pointed out as last stage riders give a genuine test of versatility, but road course events still not caught on quickly with NASCAR fan base. Chase are race not worthy consideration given the emphasis on collecting points on at least a win.

Southern 500, the Daytona 500, world 600 and firecracker 400 are the events that most memories awaken and stir the largest debates, but a Grand Slam is not only still feasible. With a tweak here and there, the best choice for a NASCAR Crown or slam three or the following is from: the Daytona 500, won in ' 08 by Ryan Newman; in the Coca-Cola 600, Kasey Kahne won; a renamed Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis, in a race of bad tires clouded by Jimmie Johnson won; and the last event before Chase profit in the foreground would returned about positioning for the "playoffs". Currently, the the Chevy Rock & roll 400 at Richmond-a more prestigious track. Give a better name the race or switch appointments with one in Talladega event, and decide whether a slam is preferable to a Crown. Otherwise, the first three options have merit for a true Triple Crown.

That would mean PS about horses. Our four hoofed friends have no Triple Crown since 1978 won their own.
